Anyone can need a dental implant at any stage of life. Implants are not recommended for people under the age of 20, however from 20-90 years of age you can safely have an implant placed in your mouth. There are many reasons one may need an implant from breaking a tooth to having an infection in the mouth, around a tooth.

A dental implant is simply a tooth replacement option.

The need for an implant does not mean one has poor hygiene. An implant is a fixed tooth solution when one needs a tooth to be replaced.

Ceramic implants provide patients with a metal free option as opposed to the widely used titanium implants.

It is up to the patient, or may be recommended for various reasons by a dentist why one should choose a ceramic or zirconia implant over a titanium implant.

The word ceramic and zirconia can be used interchangeably as they mean the same when it comes to the type of implant we are discussing.

It is advisable to speak to your dentist if you do need a tooth removed and replaced. You should also discuss the benefits of ceramic over metal.

For patients who are trying to avoid the health hazards of having metal in the mouth (because there sometimes can be some) having an all ceramic implant option is a win- win!
